The first DEAR Learning Program has officially connected with the self-regulated learning approach in primary school

As the children participating in the inaugural DEAR Learning Program advance to Primary 5, they will this year officially align with the “self-regulated learning” model consistently advocated by the secondary school, creating a more systematic learning experience for students. After being equipped with experiences from the DEAR program, DearLand, and group learning, the students will embark on their journey of self-regulated learning as they enter Primary 5. Each subject will provide specific self-regulated learning worksheet based on learning objectives, allowing children to enhance their knowledge through self-learning, collaborative learning, peer learning, and teacher guidance. The aim is to empower them to take charge of their learning, become masters of their education, and cultivate lifelong learning abilities.

On September 20, the Teaching Development Committee arranged a designated task for the Primary 5 students to conduct their first practice in self-regulated learning, allowing them to experience the process firsthand and build a foundational understanding of self-learning concepts. The children actively attempted to transition from their previous group learning experiences to the self-regulated learning format. While it may not have been perfect, they successfully took their first step, and improvement is certainly on the horizon!
