As the school year draws to a close, the Ho Yu school hall was filled not with exam stress, but with excitement and concentration! During our “Whole Person Development” session, our Mathematics teachers led Primary 1 and Primary 2 students in a creative game of “Card Fishing.”
Don’t underestimate these simple playing cards—under the teachers’ careful guidance, this activity serves as a vibrant “mathematical logic and reasoning primer”!
The “Fishing” Strategy from a Mathematical Perspective:
The game challenges more than just basic arithmetic (e.g., finding two cards that add up to a specific number). It subtly trains students’ number sense and spatial working memory. Children must rapidly process a sequence of “observe, filter, match, and calculate” entirely in their minds.
