DEAR Program Star Rewards: “Little Eyes, Watch the Principal” – Capturing the Principal Through Children’s Eyes

Ho Yu has established the “DEAR” program for its P1 and P2 students, dedicated to nurturing children to become “masters of their own learning”—developing habits of reading and exercise from an early age, cultivating character and positive values through calligraphy, and expanding their personal vocabulary through diverse themes. This approach builds a solid foundation for independent learning as they progress into upper primary and secondary school.

To encourage children to actively complete the tasks in the program, we have established special Star Rewards, giving outstanding performers the opportunity to spend quality time with the Principal and Vice Principal. This time, our exceptional young achievers from the DEAR program had the chance to draw a portrait of Principal Leung during their lunch break.

Before the activity began, the children only knew they would be meeting Principal Leung, but had no idea what special task awaited them. When the teacher revealed they would be drawing the Principal, their little faces instantly lit up with delighted smiles. Eager and excited, they picked up their paintbrushes. Sometimes carefully observing Principal Leung’s facial features, other times lowering their heads to concentrate intently on their drawings, they then meticulously added colors just as they imagined. Their focused expressions made them look just like little professional artists!

Throughout the entire lunch break, Principal Leung sat perfectly still, wearing a warm smile while serving as the “model,” casually interacting and chatting with the children. The Principal’s humorous questions drew hearty laughter from the kids, creating a joyful and heartwarming atmosphere filled with laughter echoing through the activity room.

Happy moments always pass too quickly. As lunch break drew to a close, the children proudly held up their creative “Principal Leung Through My Eyes” portraits, eagerly gathering to take photos with the Principal. Looking at the playful, childlike portraits of the Principal on paper, then at the real Principal beaming beside them, everyone doubled over with laughter—the scene was both lively and delightful. What made it even more special was seeing how each artwork showcased the children’s unique perspectives and boundless creativity.

We firmly believe that every child holds infinite potential within. When given opportunities to try, accompanied by sincere affirmation and encouragement, their potential can fully blossom. As children build confidence, their learning journey truly takes wing, allowing them to soar higher and further.
